Prevent search engines from indexing documents
Last updated: 28 March 2022If you want to prevent search engines from indexing DOCman documents on your website, you have the following options:
Update your menu items' metadata
In the site's backend, go to your DOCman menu item to edit it.
Under the Metadata tab, set the Robots parameter to "No index, no follow".
Repeat this process for each DOCman menu item.
Update your robots.txt file
Create a Disallow
rule in your robots.txt file to prevent search engine robots from accessing the DOCman directories.

Require users to login before viewing documents
If your documents are not public, i.e. requiring user login to be accessed, then search engine robots will not be able to index them.
